Join Christchurch Attractions as a seasonal Tram Driver / Tour Guide and help create memorable visitor experiences aboard our iconic heritage trams. About the Role Our busy summer season runs approximately November to April , with paid training beginning in late September/early October . In this varied and memorable role, you will: Safely operate Christchurch’s heritage trams through the city centre Deliver engaging live commentary and visitor information to local and international guests Provide warm and professional customer service Assist with ticketing, product promotion, group bookings and special tours Support tram presentation, safety, and a positive visitor experience What We're Looking For What you’ll need A current full New Zealand Driver Licence and clear DL9 Medical Certificate Excellent communication and customer service skills Confidence working in a busy tourism environment Be reliable, punctual, professional, and safety-focused Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Be flexible with work time and days. Great to have Passenger Endorsement or commercial driving experience Tour guiding, public speaking, or commentary experience Cash handling, ticketing, or visitor sales experience Additional language skills, such as Mandarin or other international languages First Aid Certificate or first aid experience You’ll thrive in this role if you Enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life Have a genuine interest in Christchurch and its stories Stay calm, friendly, and professional when busy Are observant, safety-focused, and confident following procedures Take pride in representing an iconic Christchurch tourism brand Full training and ongoing support A unique role combining heritage, manaakitanga, storytelling, and sightseeing A fun, social, and supportive seasonal team environment Meet visitors from around New Zealand and the world Staff benefits across Christchurch Attractions experiences Location Fixed-term, seasonal part-time position. Employment will commence from either 21 September or 12 October (depending on training intake requirements) and continue through to approximately late April. Typically rostered 3-4 days per week, with the possibility of up to 5 days per week during peak periods. Rosters will include at least one weekend day each week. Shifts generally range from 5.5 to 9 hours and may be scheduled between 8:00am and 8:15pm. Applicants must be available to work throughout the full employment period, including weekends and public holidays as rostered.
