Job Description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Tascon Civil Construction is a Wellington-based specialist civil contractor. We do earthworks, drainage, roadworks, retaining and concrete structures across the region. We do government contracts, subcontract work for the Tier 1 head contractors, and private clients. We're a tight crew of ten and we're growing. We're after an experienced hammer hand to join us permanently. What the job actually is No two weeks look the same. You could be on a drainage run in Porirua one week, formwork for a retaining wall in the Hutt the next, then barrier work on a state highway job. That variety is the point — if you're bored doing the same task every day on a big site, this will suit you. Day to day you'll be: Setting up and stripping formwork for concrete structures Hanging mesh on a shotcrete face Assisting operators on earthworks — batter checks, levels, service location Building retaining walls, timber and block Installing and maintaining road safety barrier systems Learning new skills every day What we're after 3+ years on civil sites. You know how a civil job runs and you don't need to be told twice. A full Class 1 driver licence. You'll be moving between sites. The legal right to work in New Zealand. We check this before you start. Someone who turns up, reads a drawing, and takes pride in what they leave behind. Handy but not essential — Class 2 licence, Site Safe, excavator tickets. If you haven't got them, we'll get you them. What you get $30 – $35 per hour depending on what you bring Permanent full-time, around 50 hours a week — 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday Steady work off a solid contract pipeline, not boom-and-bust Real civil variety — you'll come out of this a better all-round hand than you went in A growing company where good work gets noticed. We're ten people, not a thousand. the director knows your name and you'll have a say in how jobs get run.
