Te āheinga - The opportunity: The Acute Registered Nurse provides independent acute primary nursing care in a nurse-led clinic to support patient interventions and treatment within the Medical Centre. As part of the clinical team, they will work within their scope of practice and be responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care. You will work on-site with the Health Care Assistant, on-call Doctor, and other allied healthcare professionals to provide efficient, effective, professional nursing services. This role is for the Pou Ora After-hours Medical Hub on part-time or casual basis Practice hours are: 5.00pm - 9.00pm Monday – Friday 10.00am - 6.00pm Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays Perform urgent triage, including resuscitation, stabilisation, cannulation, and assisting with assessments, as necessary. Utilise standardised standing orders for treatment or referral to general practice, ambulance services, or on-call GPs. Collaborate with community health services, DHBs, non-government public health providers, ACC, and relevant non-health agencies to deliver timely and culturally appropriate health services. Use evidence-based nursing care and educate patients to reduce risky lifestyle behaviours. Collaborate with public health providers in the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Conduct systematic assessments using appropriate tools and documentation protocols. Facilitate patients' access to appropriate therapies and interventions while respecting their right to choose alternatives. Evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed treatments, interventions, and health education in collaboration with patients and the clinical team. Attend regular peer review meetings according to NZ Nursing Council guidelines. Registered Nurse qualification and Health Practitioner Index (HPI) number with a current practising certificate in New Zealand. Proven experience providing acute primary nursing care services, including urgent triage, assessment of presenting problems, and clinical interventions. Competence in urgent triage procedures, including resuscitation, stabilisation, cannulation, and assisting with assessments, as necessary. Familiarity with standardised standing orders for treatment or referral, including referral to general practice, ambulance services, and on-call GPs. Able to generate ACC claims. Adherence to privacy regulations such as the Privacy Act 2003 and HIPC 2004, as well as compliance with the HDC Patient Code of Rights. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Able to work unsupervised with a doctor on call.
