Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Newmarket, Auckland, on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about product design and eager to advance their careers in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding industry. As a member of our project team, you will be tasked with developing aircraft interior design ideas from concept to fully engineered products, complying with aircraft certification standards and able to be manufactured, installed and operated on Boeing or Airbus aircraft. The types of electrical work involved include the development or integration of aircraft interior lighting, interior safety systems, inflight video systems, power distribution, galley heating equipment, refrigeration systems and more. Key responsibilities Interpreting electrical design and certification requirements and determining compliance pathways Developing and prototyping LED lighting assemblies for cabin mock-ups Supporting a cross-functional team of design engineers in achieving innovative design solutions for airline customers Design development including CAD design (2D and 3D) Harness design and routing Prepare compliance reports or test plans (electrical loads, grounding and bonding, electromagnetic interference, system safety, component qualification, etc) Providing production support About you Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics or Avionics/Aeronautical) 3 plus years of experience in electrical product development or electrical systems integration Excellent skills in writing technical reports Interest in product design, preferably with skills in 3D CAD tools Experience in aviation or aircraft systems (preferred but not essential) Commitment to professional standards and the development of relevant skills in a highly regulated industry Decisive and self-starting attitude with energy and motivation to be effective in a demanding environment Strong communication and collaboration skills with a commitment to being part of a team-oriented organisation focused on continuous improvement, and able to work in an open manner Appropriate rights to live and work in New Zealand Opportunities to develop highly innovative new airline interior products Be part of a multicultural and welcoming team, passionate about the aviation industry and our products Modern office facilities in Newmarket, opposite the Auckland Domain with easy access to the park, gyms, public transport, restaurants and retail Prototyping area with tools to support ideation Training in aircraft design, certification, aviation regulatory systems and in the relevant engineering tools for our company Opportunity for flexible working once self-sufficient Start and develop your career within the aviation industry Engineering professional membership fees Continuing professional development opportunities Life Insurance Active Social Club with regular planned events About us Altitude Aerospace Interiors Ltd is an aeronautical engineering company based in Auckland, specialising in interior product design for leading airlines worldwide.
