Company Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity University of Waikato College – Te Kura Huanui is seeking an experienced and highly capable permanent English Language Teacher with demonstrated expertise in tertiary-level teaching and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). This full-time, ongoing role is ideal for an educator who understands the linguistic, academic, and cultural demands of university study and is committed to supporting students’ transition into higher education. Job Description Ngā Tūranga Matua | Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality Academic English and General English instruction within a tertiary education context Teach core academic skills including academic reading, writing, listening, speaking, referencing, critical thinking, and research skills Prepare students for the linguistic and academic expectations of university study Foster an inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous classroom environment Participate in assessment, moderation, and academic quality assurance processes Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives Undertake administrative tasks that support teaching quality and a positive student experience Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborative academic practice Qualifications Selection Criteria and Qualifications: Essential: Educational qualifications: Bachelor degree or equivalent A recognised language teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, DELTA, CertTESOL or equivalent) Experience, skills and knowledge: Minimum 2–3 years’ experience teaching English in tertiary, pathway, or university-linked contexts Strong knowledge of current EAL/EAP teaching principles and methodologies Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to teach flexibly across multiple levels Proven adaptability and resilience in dynamic teaching contexts Desirable: Educational qualifications: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline Experience, skills and knowledge: Experience with academic curriculum design or materials development Familiarity with academic integrity frameworks and assessment moderation Confidence using digital learning platforms and educational technology Knowledge of New Zealand tertiary education contexts and student pathways Knowledge and awareness of New Zealand culture and contemporary social issues Mōu | About You: To be successful in this role, you will be: A committed and inspiring English language educator Skilled at creating engaging lessons tailored to diverse learners Organised, dependable, and proactive Passionate about supporting students to achieve language and academic goals Motivated to contribute to curriculum, assessment, and programme enhancement A collaborative colleague who values student outcomes and staff development Additional Information Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer: A collaborative and inclusive academic team Work at the intersection of a leading university and a global education network A scenic work environment at the University of Waikato campus Professional development and networking opportunities across Australasia #J-18808-Ljbffr
