About the Role Waitematā District is looking for a dynamic leader to lead our Assessment and Diagnostic and Emergency Units at North Shore Hospital. This is a full time, permanent position. As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be the professional and operational leader responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical practice and patient care. You will work in a shared leadership model, collaborating with the Emergency Medicine and General Medicine Clinical Directors, Operations Managers, and the Nurse Unit Manager at Waitakere Hospital. This is a key leadership opportunity where you will provide strategic, financial, people, and operational management to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our services. You will lead initiatives that strengthen service delivery, develop our nursing workforce, optimise resources, and support the delivery of safe, high-quality care 24/7. You will also be responsible for workforce planning, recruitment and retention, professional development, financial planning and budgeting, and ensuring our teams have the support and resources they need to provide excellent care to patients and their families. About the Team/Service/ Location Our Emergency Department and Assessment and Diagnostic Unit provide essential acute and general medicine services, working collaboratively across the wider hospital and multidisciplinary teams to meet the needs of patients and their whānau. About you As an experienced Nurse Unit Manager and nurse leader, you will bring strong clinical expertise, strategic thinking, and a collaborative leadership approach to this role. You have extensive experience in acute medicine, with a strong background in clinical practice. You possess exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to drive a vision, inspire others, and lead change. You have a proven track record in leading and developing teams, with a focus on achieving high standards of performance and accountability. You have experience in financial planning, budgeting, workforce planning, and resource management. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and motivate a diverse nursing workforce.
