About the Position: The Food Division operates a modern laboratory in Hamilton that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology. They’re seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Dairy team in a 1-year parental leave cover. This hands‑on role includes preparing and dispatching samples, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment. Ideally, you’ll have a science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client service. Experience in a high-throughput lab environment is preferred. This is a 1 year fixed‑term position; Monday to Friday 8AM to 4:30PM. The Day to Day The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following: Weighing, preparing and extracting of Dairy sample for analysis Preparation of calibration standards and reagents Ability to continually learn and improve processes Maintain quality and data integrity within the laboratory Ensuring client turnaround times are met Ensuring the laboratory operates in an efficient and safe manner The Essentials The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities: Minimum of a laboratory certificate or qualification in science Good chemical knowledge An understanding of safety precautions necessary while working with samples of unknown hazard #J-18808-Ljbffr
