Gerry's Bakery Ltd – Harewood, South Island A baker’s duties include the making of doughs, pastry, batters, and/or mixes for the production of bread, yeast goods, cakes, biscuits, pastry, catering, or other bakery goods. They are also required to attend ovens and machinery, hand or machine moulding, depositing or piping small goods onto trays and shapes, spreading sponges and block cakes, decorating and/or icing and piping specialty cakes, and generally in any skilled work in the manufacture of bakery products. All duties are to be performed in a tidy, efficient, and hygienic manner, and in compliance with Food Safety Regulations, work rules, and safety procedures. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS The bakery staff will be trained and will be required to become competent in the following specific requirements of the position: Minimum 2 years of experience working as a baker or baker's assistant or relevant qualification. Understanding all aspects of the machinery required to perform their duties The finishing of products is ready for presentation and sale. Keeping the bakery premises in a clean and presentable condition, including doing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and other aspects of general cleaning. Any such other duties as required from time to time. IN GENERAL The bakery staff will be required to: Assist in the upkeep of the bakery and its associated freezer/chillers (e.g., general cleaning).
