Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre – Christchurch, South Island The Casual Events Host assists with the onsite hosting of events, including private hires, at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre. As The Arts Centre is a unique heritage site, this person will assist in ensuring that events are successful by welcoming and assisting clients and guests, while also protecting the heritage buildings, thereby enhancing the reputation of The Arts Centre. The role is a casual position with no regular hours. Out of normal office hours and late-night shifts (especially Friday and Saturday evenings) will be required. Key responsibilities Welcome and assist clients and patrons, demonstrating best practice in customer service and manaakitanga. Coordinate and communicate with Arts Centre staff, suppliers and contractors during events, including security, caterers, equipment hire, lighting and sound suppliers and technicians, and private event coordinators for the duration of the event and during pack-in and pack-out. Protect The Arts Centre's assets, heritage buildings and venues, including furnishings and equipment. Record and send accurate details of health and safety incidents to the Venues Coordinator /Creative Producer, and the Operations Manager. Provide logistical and administrative support when requested for The Arts Centre's own programmed events. For The Arts Centre's own programmed events, ad-hoc duties as requested including guest list administration, checking, scanning or selling tickets (including handling of cash and EFTPOS sales and the reconciliation of those), ushering, counting attendees, etc. For The Arts Centre's own programmed events where there is a bar, set up bar and beverages, facilitate orders and serve drinks, handing of EFTPOS sales, pack down and dishes. Following the completion of events, ensure that venues are returned to their pre-event condition and that all Arts Centre chattels are accounted for. Lock and alarm venues and offices following the completion of events. About you Physically fit enough to assist with moving furniture and equipment. Experience of supervising events and assisting with event delivery. Experience of sole-charge responsibilities. An understanding of The Arts Centre's unique heritage value and a commitment to protecting it. Have initiative, flexibility and a willingness to help. Friendly and welcoming demeanor.
