Registered Well Child Nurse Well Child Tamariki Ora | Kahu Taurima | B4SC Are you a passionate Registered Nurse who loves working with pēpi, tamariki and whānau and wants to make a meaningful difference in the early years of a child's life? Tongan Health Society (THS) is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Registered Well Child Nurse to join our Clinical Team and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care to children and their families from birth to five years. This is an opportunity to be part of an integrated Well Child Tamariki Ora and Kahu Taurima service, supporting whānau from pregnancy through the early childhood years. About the role As a Registered Well Child Nurse, you will provide screening, surveillance, health education and practical support to pēpi, tamariki and their whānau. You will work alongside families to promote healthy development, identify concerns early and connect whānau with the services and support they need. Your role will include: Delivering Well Child Tamariki Ora and Kahu Taurima services in a culturally responsive, whānau-centred way. Providing maternal and infant health checks and supporting continuity of care from pregnancy through early childhood. Undertaking antenatal and postnatal assessments, including identifying maternal mental health concerns and coordinating referrals where appropriate. Completing child health, growth, developmental, hearing and vision screening and surveillance. Delivering Before School Checks (B4SC) and developmental assessments. Providing health education and practical advice to parents and whānau on nutrition, immunisation, safe sleep, child development, behaviour, parenting and injury prevention. Supporting breastfeeding, smoking cessation and alcohol-free interventions. Recognising and supporting families experiencing postnatal depression and other health or social challenges. Providing navigation and referral support to health, social and community services. Supporting mobile, home-based and community outreach services to improve access for whānau who may experience barriers to care. Building strong relationships with Lead Maternity Carers, midwives, GPs, clinical teams, community organisations and other providers. Participating in community events and initiatives that promote child and whānau wellbeing. Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation and meeting relevant service and contractual requirements. Contributing to quality improvement, service development and a strong culture of safety. About you We are looking for someone who is clinically capable, culturally responsive and genuinely passionate about improving outcomes for tamariki and whānau. You will bring: Current New Zealand Registered Nurse registration and practising certificate. Registered General and Obstetric Nursing qualification, or Registered Comprehensive Nursing qualification with appropriate Child Health/Well Child Nursing Council-approved competencies. Well Child Tamariki Ora experience and/or relevant child health nursing experience. Vaccinator certification. Child Protection and Family Violence training, or willingness to complete these. A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence. The ability to deliver the three core components of Well Child Tamariki Ora: health protection and clinical assessment, health education and promotion, and family/whānau care support. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to work collaboratively across clinical, community and multidisciplinary teams. Sound clinical judgement, critical thinking and the ability to identify and respond appropriately to risk. A commitment to professional development and maintaining your clinical knowledge and competence.
