About the Role: We are seeking an Intensive Care (ICU) Registrar to join our Intensive Care Unit here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital commencing as soon as possible. Our ICU is accredited as a C12 unit under the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) training program, with endorsements for General, Rural, and Paediatric training. We actively support CICM candidates, helping them prepare for Part 1 and Part 2 exams, and have a history of trainees successfully completing their CICM research projects during their time with us. Non-training registrars have also published research projects in peer-reviewed journals. All registrars have opportunities to participate in quality improvement activities and research projects that contribute to the continued development of the service. About the Team/Service/Location: The successful candidate would join a team of 14 Registrars and a diverse group of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals. Our ICU provides critical care for both adult and paediatric patients, managing a wide range of complex cases. The service also undertakes patient retrievals and inter-hospital transfers within Hawkes Bay and to tertiary referral centres, offering opportunities to participate in both rotary wing and road transfers. Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is the principal acute hospital and specialist service provider, supported by smaller satellite facilities in Central Hawkes Bay, Napier, and Wairoa. Located in Hastings, Hawkes Bay Hospital is a 400 bed secondary level public hospital delivering both acute and elective care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology. We are supported by a strong regional ICU and flight team with tertiary support for cardiac intervention, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics and neurosurgery from Wellington, ensuring comprehensive care. About You: You’re a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY4 or above, although we will also consider applications from enthusiastic PGY3s. You have completed or planning to complete a BASIC within the first month of employment. You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
