We are looking for Health Care Assistants (HCA) to join our caring and professional aged care team in Montecillo Veterans Home & Hospital in South Dunedin, Otago . Health Care Assistant – Shift Roles To support our growing 24/7 service, we have one permanent full-time opportunity available. This role involves working across a mix of morning, afternoon, and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays. This position is best suited to applicants who are flexible and available to work a variety of shifts as required. Either 3 years of relevant work experience preferably in Aged Care, or a relevant New Zealand Level 4 qualification is required for this role. For this Level 4 HCA, you are guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week and may work up to 40 hours per week subject to mutual agreement. For this role your hourly rate will range from $28.25 per hour to $30.93 per hours depending on qualification and/or experience _____________________________________________________________________________________ About the role As a Health Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting residents to live with dignity, comfort, and independence. You will work alongside a supportive clinical team to meet residents’ daily needs and support their overall wellbeing. Key responsibilities Assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Observing, monitoring, and reporting changes in residents’ health to Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses Contributing to care plans and resident wellbeing Completing electronic documentation accurately – computer literacy. Following policies, procedures, and aged care regulations Completing training and attending meetings to uphold our high standards of care ______________________________________________________________________________________ About you Either a Level 4 qualification in healthcare or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in aged care A positive attitude and willingness to learn Flexible with shifts and able to work well as part of a team Excellent verbal, written, and reading communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills A good level of fitness, as shifts can be physically demanding and fast-paced.
