We are now looking for an experienced, ambitious and highly driven Commercial Insurance Broker to join our growing Christchurch team. You will work closely with our Christchurch Branch Manager, helping grow the Venture Insurance presence throughout Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. The Role: Commercial Insurance Broker – Christchurch Type: Full-Time Location: Christchurch This is an exciting opportunity for an established Commercial Insurance Broker who wants to be part of building something substantial. You will work alongside our Christchurch Branch Manager , helping establish and grow Venture Insurance’s presence across Christchurch and Canterbury. Your role will be very much client and growth focused. You’ll advise commercial clients, manage renewals, negotiate with insurers, build strong relationships and actively develop new business. We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to service an existing portfolio. We want a broker who loves the hunt , enjoys meeting business owners, creating relationships, finding opportunities and growing a book of business they can be proud of. You’ll have the backing and support of an experienced Branch Manager, while also being given the autonomy and freedom expected of a strong commercial broker. As the Christchurch branch grows, so will the opportunities around you. Your Responsibilities Grow Your Commercial Insurance Portfolio Build, manage, retain and GROW a portfolio of commercial insurance clients. Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities. Develop strong, long-term relationships with business owners, directors and key decision-makers. Build relationships throughout the Christchurch and wider Canterbury business community. Understand clients’ businesses, operations and individual risk exposures. Provide clear, practical and commercially focused insurance advice. Structure appropriate insurance programmes across a broad range of commercial insurance products. Negotiate with insurers to achieve strong coverage, terms and pricing for clients. Manage renewals, policy reviews, endorsements and ongoing client requirements. Support clients through claims and advocate for quality outcomes. Build Strong Relationships Develop relationships with accountants, lawyers, bankers, property professionals and other referral partners. Build strong relationships with insurers and underwriters. Identify opportunities through your existing and developing business networks. Represent Venture professionally within the Christchurch business community. Help strengthen and grow the Venture Insurance brand throughout Canterbury. Work With the Wider Venture Team Work closely with the Christchurch Branch Manager to grow the branch. Collaborate with Venture colleagues throughout New Zealand. Identify opportunities across Venture’s Insurance, Mortgage and Wealth Management divisions. Refer clients across the wider group where appropriate. Contribute ideas, market intelligence and commercial insight. Support the wider team as the Christchurch operation continues to grow. Maintain high standards of compliance, professionalism and ethical conduct. What You Bring We are looking for someone who combines strong commercial insurance experience with energy, ambition and a genuine desire to grow . You will ideally bring: Significant experience in Commercial Insurance Broking. Strong knowledge of the New Zealand commercial insurance market. A proven ability to develop new business and grow a client portfolio. Strong relationships within the insurance industry. Excellent technical understanding of commercial insurance products and risk. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to achieve quality outcomes for clients. Commercial awareness and the confidence to work with business owners and senior decision-makers. A genuine client-first approach. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage renewals, deadlines and multiple priorities. The confidence and drive to pursue opportunities independently. Appropriate New Zealand financial advice qualifications and regulatory requirements. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is hungry to build .
