Nāku te rourou | what we bring Christchurch Methodist Mission (CMM) is a social service agency of Te Hāhi Weteriana o Aotearoa with responsibilty for services throughout Te Patiki Whakatekateka o Waitaha, Te Tai Poutini and Te Tau Ihu. Our kaupapa serves the youngest to oldest members of our community through early childhood education, social work and psychological support in schools and homes, financial mentoring, housing and homelessness services and WesleyCare our home for kaumātua. With over 300 kaimahi we have an amazing amount of skills to help strengthen our communities. In Ōtautahi, we provide long-term whānau housing, affordable housing for older people, transitional and youth housing, kaumātua accommodation and support at Whare Tiaki, and a sustaining-tenancies service. Our team offers social support and tenancy management focused on addressing the causes of homelessness and helping clients and whānau secure and maintain stable, long-term housing. CMM is committed to the 40-year bicultural journey of Te Hāhi Weteriana o Aotearoa and to its own journey towards becoming a Tiriti based organisation. Te Tūnga | the role The Tenancy Manager will have responsibility for providing tenancy management services to individuals and whānau who live or stay in CMM housing in Ōtautahi. The Tenancy Manager will have a role in coordinating the maintenance and repairs of the properties to maintain a good standard of housing. The tenancy manager will also manage the transitional housing portfolio and the relationship CMM has with the property owners. Nāu te rourou | what you will bring We're looking for someone who brings a strength-based approach to engaging with whānau and tenants, paired with compassion, courage, flexibility, and the ability to thrive under pressure. You'll excel at building strong relationships, confidently navigating challenging tenancy situations, and drawing on experience within Aotearoa's social housing sector or have a willingness to learn. A solid understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986, or the motivation to develop it, is essential, as is experience working alongside Community, Iwi/Māori, Pacific organisations and people from diverse cultural backgrounds. You’ll be skilled in administration and digital tools, be a clear and confident communicator, and have a committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice. If you're someone who can self-manage, prioritise effectively, work collaboratively and confidentially within a team, and hold a full, clean driver’s licence, we’d love to hear from you.
