Casual Mental Health Peer Support Worker We are currently looking for Casual Mental Health and Additions Peer Support Workers to join our services in Wairau/Blenheim. No set shifts, hours of work vary depending on the service. Monday - Friday (9:30am – 3:30pm) Saturday - Sunday (10am - 2pm) Health Action Trust is a dynamic and innovative community organisation specialising in community health promotion initiatives and professional mental health and addiction peer led services.People applying must have a personal lived experience of mental illness or distress to undertake this role. Our teams work across: Nikau Hauora Hub, Wahi Oranga, Nelson Hospital Emergency Department, Kotuku Crisis Respite, Nelson Community Services and Wairau/Blenheim. These roles would best suit people ready to learn, grow and move forward with their career in the Mental health & Addiction field. A Peer Support Worker uses their own lived experience of mental health and/or addiction challenges to support others on their wellbeing journey. Through building genuine, respectful relationships, they inspire hope, promote self-determination, and walk alongside tangata whaiora as they identify their strengths, work towards their goals, and build confidence in their recovery. Peer support is founded on mutuality, empathy and the belief that recovery is possible. A lived experience of mental illness/distress and/or addiction Flexibility/availability Good oral and written communication skills Proven ability to work positively and effectively within a team environment.
