This is an excellent opportunity for a capable drainlayer or senior crew member ready to take on more responsibility, lead a small team, and further develop their leadership skills. About the Role As a Drainage Leading Hand, you'll lead a crew of 1-3 people while remaining hands-on in the field. You'll be trusted to organise daily activities, maintain productivity, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role offers genuine responsibility and autonomy, making it ideal for someone looking to establish themselves as a site leader and build a long-term career in civil construction. What You'll Be Doing Leading and coordinating a small drainage crew Setting out and installing sumps and drainage leads Completing tie-ins to existing manholes and networks Reading and interpreting plans and site drawings Using laser levels, rotary lasers, and pipe lasers Installing and grading drainage pipework accurately Maintaining strong health and safety standards Ensuring projects are completed on time and to specification What We're Looking For You may already be working as a Leading Hand, or you could be an experienced Drainlayer looking for the opportunity to step into a leadership position. To be successful, you'll have: Strong drainage and civil construction experience The ability to work independently and make sound decisions on-site A proactive approach to planning and organising work Confidence leading by example and supporting team members Good communication and problem-solving skills Experience working around underground services Advantageous Qualifications Previous Leading Hand or Senior Drainlayer experience Knowledge of Wellington Water standards and local authority requirements Class 2 licence WTR endorsements Relevant drainage or civil construction qualifications What's On Offer?
