Māori Disability Kaiārahi (0.5 FTE)

We are excited to invite a compassionate and dedicated Māori Disability Kaiārahi to join our team in this part-time (0.5 FTE) role. This position focuses on supporting tamariki with disabilities from birth to school age and their whānau through culturally responsive, whānau-centred navigation, advocacy, and coordination services. Working alongside whānau, you will help strengthen mana motuhake by supporting them to understand their options, access the services they need, and build the confidence, skills, and knowledge to navigate disability support systems independently. Through meaningful relationships and a kaupapa Māori approach, you will empower whānau to achieve goals and improve outcomes for their tamariki. Key Responsibilities Engage with whānau to identify their strengths, aspirations, and support needs. Support whānau to develop and implement plans that reflect their goals and cultural values. Provide advocacy, information sharing, care coordination, and navigation support. Connect whānau with disability, health, education, and community services and resources. Build and maintain strong relationships with local providers, schools, health professionals, and community agencies. Monitor and review progress with whānau, supporting sustainable pathways towards increased independence and self-determination. Experience working with tamariki and whānau who require disability support. Strong advocacy skills and the ability to support whānau through complex situations. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Experience working with Māori whānau and communities. A qualification in disability, health, education, social services, or a related field (advantageous). Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload. A full New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the community.
