MELBA Lunn Ave is looking for an experienced hospitality professional to work alongside our owner-operator and help take an already successful café to the next level. This is not a traditional administration-heavy café manager role. It is a hands-on front-of-house leadership position focused on customer experience, team development and growing sales through genuine hospitality. Key responsibilities Being a visible, welcoming presence on the floor and creating memorable customer experiences. Leading the front-of-house team by example during busy service periods. Coaching and developing team members to deliver warm, confident and consistent service. Building strong relationships with regular customers, local businesses and the wider community. Identifying practical opportunities to grow sales, repeat visits, catering and customer loyalty. Maintaining excellent presentation, cleanliness and front-of-house operating standards. Working closely with the owner-operator to improve the overall customer journey and cafe performance. Supporting coffee and beverage service, including stepping onto the machine when required. Helping create a positive, professional and enjoyable team culture. About you Strong experience in a busy New Zealand cafe, restaurant or hospitality environment. Proven experience leading, coaching or supervising a front-of-house team. A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The confidence to lead from the front and positively influence the people around them. A calm, organised approach and the ability to perform under pressure. Solid barista skills and confidence working in a fast-paced coffee environment. A commercial mindset and an interest in helping grow cafe sales. A positive, hands-on attitude and a willingness to support wherever required. Daytime hospitality with no late-night shifts.
