Job Description

Senior Strength and Conditioning Practitioner HPSNZ is seeking applications for a Senior Strength & Conditioning Practitioner, Waikato – Full-time, permanent Location: Cambridge Reporting to the Head of Strength & Conditioning, you will be responsible for leading Waikato based Strength & Conditioning practitioners and physical preparation of elite athletes. Experience working in a high-performance rowing environment is desirable. Key Responsibilities Work closely with NSOs coaches to provide world class and science-based Strength and conditioning practise to develop elite athletes so they excel on the world stage. Provide strong leadership and people management, nurturing and upholding a strong high-performance culture. Contribute to the overall HPSNZ strategy and culture of the national Strength & Conditioning team. Developing future leaders through mentoring National Training Centre team to grow and excel in their roles. Ensure the HPSNZ facility is operating at a high level that meets the needs and demands of supported athletes and coaches within the High-Performance system. Ensure the highest possible standards of professional practise amongst the Strength & Conditioning team are aligned to the HPSNZ code of conduct, systems and processes. Assist the planning of national Strength & Conditioning professional development initiatives to evolve knowledge and innovative practice and be prepared to share this within other staff. Be proactive in fostering links across disciplines and externally with key stakeholders. Working with HoD to ensure a robust quality assurance framework and accompanying professional development plans are implemented across S&C network. The successful applicant will have: Experience At least 10 years’ working in a high-performance environment. History of working effectively with elite athletes and coaches over a sustained period. A verifiable record of working effectively with high-performance staff from a variety of sport science disciplines. Proven record in the provision of strength and conditioning support to athletes and coaches to improve performance. Demonstrated ability to analyse a sport in relation to their performance needs and to develop, implement and evaluate strength and conditioning programmes for individual athletes. Experience with and ability to modify strength and conditioning programmes according to the results of performance or assessment data, in conjunction with coaches and other support staff. Experience with strategic planning (i.e. IPP), implementation and monitoring of strength and conditioning services to elite athletes. Experience of working with and supporting a team at a major international competition (e.g. Olympic or Paralympic Games, World Senior or Junior Championships or Commonwealth Games) Leadership Skills Ability to achieve expected outcomes through both written and oral communication in individual and group settings Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and foster mutual trust and respect while operating with a high level of integrity and confidentiality when required Ability to lead individuals to their potential by maximising their strengths and personal qualities Strong planning ability maintaining a clear focus on key priorities and communicating these to relevant parties creating focus.
