We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Support Worker to join Birchwood Farm , supporting people with disabilities to participate in meaningful horticultural activities and develop practical skills in an outdoor farm environment. Birchwood Farm is a peaceful rural propertylocated just 16km south of Christchurch city centre. About the Role He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko This role involves working alongside individuals with varying support needs, assisting them to achieve their personal goals, build confidence, and engage in productive horticultural work. The successful candidate will provide both practical support and personal care assistance while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment. You will: Support people with disabilities to participate in daily horticultural and farm-based activities. Assist participants with planting, harvesting, weeding, garden maintenance, propagation, and other horticultural tasks. Encourage skill development, independence, and active participation. Provide person-centred support based on individual needs and support plans. Monitor wellbeing and respond appropriately to health, behavioural, or daily support needs, including personal carers. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with team members, families, and other stakeholders as required. Who are we looking for? Ko wai ta tatou e rapu ana People who are passionate about helping others, are kind and understanding Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, including experience with disabilities and challenges behaviours. Ability to work outdoors and undertake physical tasks. Able to work rostered shifts between Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. Full driver's license is essential. Somebody who has the initiative to push people for their goals, is energetic, outgoing, and can think outside the box. You need to be respectful of others thinking, and their way of living life that may be different to your own.
