Redcliffs Medical Centre – Redcliffs, South Island Healthcare Assistant (Admin & Clinical) Redcliffs Medical Centre – Christchurch Part-time (26 hours per week worked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) Redcliffs Medical Centre is seeking a reliable and motivated Healthcare Assistant to support our nursing team. This is a key support role within a busy, community-focused general practice, playing an essential part in keeping our nursing and clinical teams running smoothly. This role combines administrative coordination with hands-on clinical support, including phlebotomy, ECGs, observations, assistance with minor surgery procedures and helping with chronic disease and preventative health programmes. You will support patient recalls, phone triage, clinical workflows, and data quality, helping ensure patients receive timely, safe, and effective care. You’ll be part of a supportive, modern practice with opportunities to assist in clinical tasks (if trained), as well as contribute to audits, CQI projects, and equity-focused work. This role suits someone who is organised, proactive, and motivated by improving systems and supporting better health outcomes for our community. About the Role Inbox and task management Patient recalls, follow-ups, and screening coordination Phone triaging and directing patients appropriately (within scope) Stock control and ordering of clinical supplies Preparing clinical rooms and maintaining equipment Data entry and maintaining accurate patient records Supporting clinical audits and data quality activities Assisting with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects Contributing to equity-focused initiatives and outreach Supporting Māori health gain and equitable access to care, including identification of priority populations and recall support Clinical tasks may include: Phlebotomy Administering Vaccinations (where authorised) Basic clinical support (e.g. observations including ECGs, and chaperoning) Assisting with minor surgeries and other clinical procedures Supporting chronic disease management and preventative health programmes (e.g. diabetes reviews and screening initiatives) Supporting new patient consultations, including welcoming patients, explaining practice processes, collecting relevant health information, and reviewing patient records.
