Base Contracting - Arrowtown, South Island Base Contracting Ltd is a well-established civil contracting business delivering civil construction projects across the region. We have many exciting projects underway, including large residential projects and golf courses. About the role This is a key role within the business, combining tender estimating with ongoing commercial support across civil construction projects. You'll work closely with Project Managers and management team from initial tender pricing through to project delivery, payment claims, variations and final cost analysis. Key responsibilities Preparing detailed estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projects Completing quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications Developing labour, plant, material and subcontractor pricing Managing and maintaining the BidQ estimating system, including current rates and cost information Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations Reviewing plant costs, utilisation and hourly operating rates Preparing project budgets and supporting the handover of successful tenders to Project Managers Preparing monthly payment claims for time-and-material projects and maintaining project schedules Identifying, pricing and tracking project variations Monitoring actual project costs against estimates and budgets About you 3+ years experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying in construction, preferably in civil contracting A recognized qualification in Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying is strongly preferred A strong understanding of civil construction methods, plant, labour and materials The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation Experience preparing estimates, payment claims and variations Strong commercial and numerical skills Excellent attention to detail and organisation Strong Excel and general computer skills A full New Zealand Driver Licence All employees must pass a pre-employment health assessment and alcohol/drug test All applicants must have the right to work and reside in New Zealand.
