V2 Mobile Repairs is looking for a motivated and skilled Service Technician to join our team in Oamaru, Otago region. This is a full-time position guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week offering an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced mobile device repair environment with pay rate of $32 to $38 per hour depending on your skills and experience. About the Role As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices. You will provide high-quality technical services while delivering excellent customer support. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on mobile phones, tablets, and related devices to identify hardware and software faults. Use specialised diagnostic tools and software to accurately detect device issues and physical damage. Perform systematic testing to determine the root cause of faults such as screen failures, battery issues, charging problems, faulty buttons, and software errors. Repair or replace defective components, including screens, batteries, cameras, charging ports, speakers, microphones, buttons, and other internal parts. Carefully disassemble and reassemble mobile devices while ensuring all components are correctly installed. Perform advanced hardware repairs involving motherboards, integrated circuits (ICs), connectors, and other delicate electronic components. Carry out repairs using appropriate tools and techniques while minimising the risk of damage to surrounding components. Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, including operating system failures, application crashes, malware infections, and firmware-related problems. Perform system restorations, firmware updates, software installations, device unlocking, password resets, and data backup or recovery where required. Install, configure, and update mobile applications according to customer requirements. Communicate professionally with customers to identify device issues and explain repair processes, estimated costs, and expected completion times. Provide customers with advice on device maintenance and preventative care to reduce future damage. Deliver prompt, professional technical support both in person and over the phone. Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you must have: At least two years of relevant work experience; or aLevel 5 qualification (or higher) in Information Technology or any relevant technical field. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently with delicate electronic components.
