Interchurch Council for Hospital Chaplaincy – Whangarei, North Island Ecumenical Hospital Chaplain (Part Time 0.7FTE) Unique opportunity to make a real difference in the provision of spiritual heath care for individuals, families, whanau in our care. Professional Development provided. Part Time position. You will work as part of a team at Whangarei Hospital. Whangarei Hospital has 350 beds and provides surgical, 7 theatres, Intensive care unit, high dependency unit, 24-hour emergency department, Pediatrics, medical and disability support, mental health and clinical support, maternal and child health, Takawaenga support service, community health services, Radiology and Clinical Support services. Hospital Chaplaincy Aotearoa Hospital Chaplaincy Aotearoa is a collaboration of a broad range of churches, that is committed to providing Christian Chaplains within Aotearoa New Zealand’s healthcare environment. As Chaplain you will be part of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, working with other Chaplains across the hospital providing holistic care to all. You will gain experience and provide spiritual care to patients from every culture, life stage, denomination, faith-orientation, belief, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Key responsibility areas: Delivering spiritual healthcare to patients suffering ill health or accident, to their whānau, and to staff within a public hospital. Responding to crisis calls from hospital staff, patients and whānau including "on call" hours. Regularly, and on request, visiting wards and units to provide spiritual care and attend appropriate meetings within the hospital. Conducting spiritual and religious services and rituals in the hospital. Collaborating in multi-disciplinary meetings, therapeutic groups and other processes as appropriate to role. Teaming up and working positively as a unified Chaplaincy team in each Hospital. Supporting colleagues within regional chaplaincy teams and across the Motu. Training and supervision of Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistants. With your empathy and compassion, excellent listening and pastoral skills, and a good level of religious, spiritual, and theological understanding, this is an exciting and rewarding time to join our team.Your knowledge and experience in a ministry of pastoral care in a health or in faith community leadership will be key to your success.
