About the role We're looking for a People & Culture Manager to join our Wellington-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders, influencing business decisions and creating an environment where people and performance thrive. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll lead the People & Culture function across our New Zealand and Australian businesses. It's a broad standalone role that combines strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, spanning leadership coaching, recruitment, organisational development, employee relations, performance, remuneration, health & safety and culture. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you'll help maintain and strengthen our high‑performing, values‑led culture while ensuring our people practices continue to support the growth and success of the business. What you'll be responsible for Partnering with leaders to provide trusted advice across the full employee lifecycle. Developing and implementing People & Culture initiatives that support our business strategy and reinforce our values. Leading recruitment and workforce planning across New Zealand and Australia, helping us attract and retain exceptional people. Coaching and supporting leaders through performance management, development, employee relations and organisational change. Leading our performance and talent processes, including quarterly 5-5-5 conversations, annual reviews and talent planning. Driving employee engagement, recognition and culture initiatives that strengthen the employee experience. Leading Health & Safety across the business, including chairing our Health & Safety Committee and driving continuous improvement. Ensuring compliance with New Zealand and Australian employment legislation, payroll obligations and company policies. Reviewing and continuously improving people systems, processes and reporting to support informed business decisions. Contributing a commercial people perspective to strategic business decisions and organisational planning. About you You’ll be an experienced People & Culture professional who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical execution and is confident building trusted relationships across all levels of the business. You’ll also bring: At least five years' experience in a senior HR or People & Culture generalist role. Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law, with exposure to Australian employment practices an advantage. Proven experience managing complex employee relations and performance matters. Demonstrated success partnering with leaders to build capability and improve organisational performance. Experience leading Health & Safety programmes and fostering a positive safety culture. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance people outcomes with business objectives. Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills. High levels of integrity, discretion and sound judgement. A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, varied environment. Experience with EOS, Ninety or a similar business operating system would be an advantage. Why join Plumbline?
