Are you a hospitality professional with a passion for luxury service and creating unforgettable guest experiences? We are seeking a dynamic Senior Food and Beverage Guest Host to join Canterbury’s only Two Michelin Keyed property. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of our well-travelled guest's food & beverage experience. You will seamlessly blend exceptional food and beverage service, ensuring our front-of house team consistently delivers world‑class service that exceeds expectations. Key Responsibilities Guest Hosting & Experience Welcome and host guests throughout their stay, offering personalized recommendations, property introductions, and directions. Coordinate guest movements smoothly with wider lodge operations. Coordinate, set up, and deliver premium meal and beverage services (including breakfast, lunch, dinner, picnics, and events) to Relais & Chateaux standards. Select wine and beverage pairings in coordination with our culinary team. Demonstrate strong technical skills, including tableside wine service, crafting cocktails to recipe, and efficient plate clearing. Maintain pristine service areas and manage the sourcing, purchasing, and restocking of FOH supplies. Leadership & Operations Assist in leading, directing, and motivating the FOH team during daily service and special functions. Train new staff to ensure in-house service delivery remains consistently flawless. Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and crafting staff rosters aligned with business needs. Step in to assist other departments when needed, including light housekeeping or guest laundry tasks, to ensure a seamless lodge operation. What We Are Looking For Qualifications & Experience: Duty Manager’s Certificate (an advantage but not essential) General beverage knowledge is highly desirable; certifications in bartending, wine/spirits, or barista training are a distinct advantage. A strong understanding of New Zealand labour practices and regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office365 (Word, Excel). Skills & Attributes: The Essentials: A confident, professional demeanour with a positive approach to change and a willingness to both learn and teach. Under Pressure: The ability to work independently, think on your feet, and problem-solve in a high-pressure environment. Commercial Savvy: Strong business acumen, salesmanship, and an analytical mindset.
