About the role We are seeking an experienced Foreman/Carpenter to join Gray Brothers Builders in Dunedin, Otago, on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines skilled carpentry work with supervisory responsibilities. As Experienced Foreman/Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in overseeing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards. You will be responsible for directing your team and maintaining the safety and professional standards that define our company. This role offers the opportunity to apply your extensive carpentry expertise whilst developing your leadership capabilities on active construction sites. Key responsibilities Oversee day-to-day construction site operations and manage project timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget Lead, supervise, and coordinate your team Conduct toolbox meetings and safety briefings to maintain a strong health and safety culture on site Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, structural timber work, finishing, and other carpentry tasks as required Manage site resources, including materials, tools, equipment, and waste disposal Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members and apprentices What we're looking for Minimum 5+ years' experience as a carpenter with at least 2 years in a foreman or supervisory role Trade qualification in carpentry or recognised equivalent experience demonstrating advanced carpentry skills Proven ability to manage construction teams and lead by example Knowledge of health and safety regulations Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure Proficiency in reading and interpreting building plans, specifications, and technical drawings Valid driver's licence Previous experience working on residential and/or commercial projects is desirable What we offer Gray Brothers Builders is committed to supporting the wellbeing and professional development of our team.
