We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Accountant to join our Finance team and play a pivotal role in providing insights to directly support strategic decision-making and community impact. No two days are the same, and you'll enjoy a broad role that combines financial accounting, management reporting, compliance, forecasting, and business partnering. Mo te tunga | About the role Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide accounting expertise and financial analysis to support effective financial management across Harbour Hospice. You'll deliver meaningful insights that help guide organisational planning, governance, and informed decision-making. Key responsibilities include: Leading month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting Preparing insightful management reports, variance analysis, and financial commentary Supporting the preparation of Finance Committee and management reports Delivering retail sales analysis and performance reporting Maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management Supporting audit processes and maintaining audit-ready financial records GST returns and financial compliance activities Oversight and support of accounts payable and receivable processes Monitoring funding contracts and ensuring accurate revenue recognition and reporting You're a proactive and analytical accounting professional who enjoys getting beyond the numbers to understand the bigger picture. You bring strong technical capability, but equally important is your ability to communicate financial information clearly and build positive and collaborative working relationships across the organisation. To be successful in this role, you'll have: A CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (or are working towards one) Proven experience preparing financial statements, management reports, budgets, and forecasts Strong month-end and year-end accounting experience Experience supporting audits and maintaining financial controls Experience within a similarly complex and broad commercial or non-profit organisation Advanced Excel skills and confidence with accounting systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with non-financial stakeholders Ko matou tenei | About us Harbour Hospice is one of the largest specialist palliative care providers in Aotearoa New Zealand, caring for turoro/patients and their whanau across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions.
