The Recruitment Network (TRN) is currently recruiting experienced Catering Assistants to join our casual workforce. We supply skilled hospitality professionals to hospitals, aged care facilities, schools, production kitchens, corporate caterers and other high-volume food service operations throughout Christchurch. We're looking for people who already understand the demands of professional catering environments, take pride in food safety, and enjoy working as part of a busy kitchen team. If you're reliable, experienced, and looking for flexible casual work we'd love to hear from you. What You'll Be Doing Preparing and portioning meals Assisting with food preparation under the direction of chefs Plating and presenting meals to specification Serving customers, patients or residents Operating dishwashing equipment and maintaining a clean kitchen Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas Following food safety, allergen and infection control procedures Assisting with stock rotation and general kitchen duties Supporting kitchen teams during busy meal service What We Offer Weekly pay Flexible casual employment Regular shifts across seven days Opportunities to work at a variety of respected Christchurch venues Ongoing work for reliable, high-performing team members To be successful, you must have: Previous experience working as a Catering Assistant in hospitals, aged care, schools, production kitchens or commercial catering operations NZQA Unit Standard 167 Practice Food Safety Methods in a Food Business Under Supervision NZQA Unit Standard 168 Demonstrate Knowledge of Food Contamination Hazards and Control Methods Used in a Food Business Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices A positive attitude and strong work ethic The ability to work efficiently in busy kitchen environments Excellent communication and teamwork skills Reliable transport to travel to various Christchurch locations Current New Zealand working rights (Citizen, Resident or valid work visa) Why Choose TRN?
