The Opportunity Our client is a specialist land development consultancy with a strong reputation across civil engineering, surveying, planning, structural engineering and resource consenting. Land development sits at the heart of what they do, and they are looking for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join their Christchurch team. This is a chance to step into a role where you will be close to the action, working directly with senior engineers, directors and project decision-makers. Rather than being limited to one narrow part of a project, you will gain exposure across the full lifecycle and see how your work contributes from early design through to delivery on site. For an engineer at intermediate level, this role offers a different kind of career path. Larger consultancies may provide structure and profile, but this opportunity gives you direct involvement, broader project ownership and genuine visibility across design, consenting, construction observation and client interaction. Reporting through the Engineering Team Leader, you will work closely with experienced leaders who understand land development inside out. Projects will include subdivisions, commercial developments, infrastructure works and a variety of related land development assignments across Canterbury. About You 2 years + experience Experience in Civil 3D Preferred with 12d considered Experience in hands on design plus site exposure / investigations Confidence in your interactions with clients, contractors, and colleagues The ability to undertake engineering works and fulfil the responsibilities of the Engineer to the contract under NZS 391 Experience in land development or subdivision design NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa The Role Working as part of our client's civil engineering team, you will be involved in a broad mix of land development engineering work and will have the opportunity to take responsibility for key project tasks while being supported by experienced senior professionals. Deliver high-quality engineering work with support from senior leadership, while managing your own time to meet project milestones Prepare civil engineering designs for wastewater, stormwater, potable water, earthworks and surface drainage networks Analyse catchment variables and complete calculation modelling for fluid networks Prepare and interpret tender documentation and supporting material for NZS 3910 contracts Apply practical knowledge of civil construction methods and costs when preparing construction estimates Monitor site works and act as the engineer's representative to contract where required Engage with clients to understand requirements and develop practical design solutions Prepare technical reports to support engineering design, consent applications and wider project delivery Carry out site investigations and gather information to inform design outcomes Liaise with local authority staff to work through engineering queries and approvals Manage deadlines and deliver work in line with agreed project timeframes The Benefits Competitive remuneration based on experience, reviewed annually A role with genuine variety: no two projects are the same Direct access to senior engineers and directors from day one Flexible working arrangements based on project needs A team that takes the work seriously but does not take itself too seriously Support for your professional development and pathway toward CPEng registration #J-18808-Ljbffr
