With an increase in business, we are currently recruiting for an Asian Cuisine Chef to join our Christchurch Airport kitchen. About the role This is a crucial role within our production team, responsible for delivering high-quality airline meals while maintaining strict food safety and quality standards. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will take ownership of your designated workbench and support the training and development of junior team members. Key responsibilities Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Asian dishes in line with airline menus and specifications Adapt traditional recipes to meet large-scale airline catering requirements Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation standards Monitor food utilisation and minimise wastage Ensure all food safety and HACCP documentation is completed accurately Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company standards Work collaboratively with other departments to meet production timelines About you Proven experience in Asian cuisine, particularly Singaporean and Japanese culinary styles Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a commercial kitchen environment Relevant NZQA Level 4 (or higher) culinary qualification Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety systems Ability to assess food quality using sensory evaluation (taste, smell, texture, presentation) Good English communication skills (written and verbal) Physically capable of working in a fast-paced kitchen environment A team player with a strong commitment to health, safety, and hygiene Our kitchens operate seven days a week, and flexibility is essential. Current shifts typically run from 8:00am to 4:30pm, with changes based on operational requirements.
