Based in Rolleston, we support home gardeners, landscapers, contractors, commercial growers and nurseries with quality products, technical growing media and practical solutions that help plants, places and communities thrive. About the role Are you looking for practical, hands-on work that contributes to Canterbury's horticulture, nursery and growing media sector? We're looking for a part-time R&D and Lab Assistant to join us, working 15 to 20 hours per week across five weekdays. This role could be a great fit for a horticulture, agriculture or science student wanting to broaden their practical experience, or for someone looking for meaningful part-time work that can fit alongside other important commitments. At Intelligro, you'll be part of a great crew helping Canterbury grow, both figuratively and literally. The role is varied and practical, with a mix of quality, operational, lab and R&D support tasks that could take you from the lab to the greenhouse and outdoors. Role Purpose Support R&D, QC, compliance, testing, sampling, trials, records, and greenhouse care. Key Responsibilities Collect samples, complete routine tests, record results, and report issues. Help prepare, mix, plant, water, monitor, record, and tidy trials. Assist inspections, record compliance information, and report concerns. Enter results, file documents, prepare sample forms, and monitor lab supplies. Keep work areas tidy and support related quality, safety, and operational tasks. Work Requirements Work may be in the lab, yard, glasshouse, or outdoors. Includes practical work, material handling, PPE use, and some computer/paperwork tasks. May involve dust, machinery, vehicles, weather, and lifting up to 20 kg. About You Reliable, practical, methodical, and willing to learn. Comfortable working in lab, yard, greenhouse, and outdoor areas. Able to record information, speak up, and work independently once trained. Available weekdays, with flexibility for seasonal hours. Good literacy, numeracy, computer skills, reliability, and careful work habits. Skills and Experience Essential: Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills. Reliable and careful work habits. Desirable, but not essential: Experience in a lab work, in horticulture, and sampling. Familiarity with Excel.
