Job Description
K9 Cribs Ltd is seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team in Invercargill Central Southland. This is a part-time position of around 25 rostered hours per week that plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of the dogs in our care. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining clean and comfortable living spaces for our canine residents whilst supporting the broader operations of our facility. This role is essential to delivering high standards of animal care and contributing to the positive experience of both the dogs and their owners during their time with us. Key responsibilities Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, runs and communal areas to maintain hygiene standards and prevent disease Feeding dogs according to dietary requirements and schedules, ensuring accurate portions and freshwater availability Providing daily exercise and socialisation for dogs in our care, including walking and playtime activities Monitoring dogs for signs of illness or distress and reporting concerns to senior staff immediately Assisting with the reception and check-in of dogs, recording relevant information and special requirements Preparing and maintaining kennels and equipment for new arrivals Supporting basic grooming tasks, including brushing and bathing as directed Maintaining records and assisting with administrative duties related to dog care Following health and safety protocols and best practice animal welfare standards What we're looking for A genuine passion for animal welfare and care, with a demonstrated commitment to high standards of dog handling and husbandry Previous experience working with dogs or in an animal care setting, or a strong willingness to learn Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks including cleaning, lifting and exercising dogs Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures consistently Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with a positive approach to teamwork Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues Basic understanding of canine behavior, health and safety protocols, or willingness to undertake training A current driving license would be advantageous What we offer K9 Cribs Ltd is committed to creating a supportive and rewarding workplace for our team.
