Field Service Technician

GTech designs, manufactures and services high-speed centrifuges used throughout the food, dairy, wastewater, energy and industrial sectors. We also provide precision engineering and maintenance services to a diverse range of industries, including aerospace, marine and power generation. We're looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join our Christchurch team. This is a varied role that combines field service, workshop overhaul and new machine assembly. One day you could be diagnosing a customer's equipment on site, the next rebuilding a high-speed centrifuge in our modern workshop or commissioning a newly refurbished machine. About the role As part of our Service team, you will: Service, maintain and repair industrial equipment both on customer sites and in our Christchurch workshop. Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs. Rebuild high-speed rotating equipment to exacting standards. Install and commission new and refurbished machinery. Work closely with customers to provide practical technical solutions. Participate in a shared after-hours call-out roster. Travel throughout New Zealand as required, with occasional overnight stays. No two weeks are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and thrives on new challenges. About you We're looking for a practical, self-motivated tradesperson with strong mechanical aptitude and excellent fault-finding skills. You'll ideally have: A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Turning, Maintenance Engineering or similar. Experience maintaining industrial machinery and mechanical plant. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities. The ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team. A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service. A full New Zealand driver's licence. Experience with centrifuges isn't essential—we'll provide comprehensive product training to the right person.
