Our core services include brickwork, tiling, scaffolding, stonework, and façade systems. We work closely with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project teams to deliver practical and effective construction solutions across a range of projects. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across the company and support its continued development. About the Role The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and business performance of Elite Construction Service Ltd. Reporting to the Director, the General Manager will lead the company's day-to-day business operations and oversee key functions including business planning, financial performance, construction operations, commercial management, workforce planning, client relationships, procurement, risk management, and organisational development. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and management team to establish business objectives, allocate resources, improve operational performance, and ensure the company continues to achieve sustainable and profitable growth. Key Responsibilities Strategic and Business Management Develop and implement business strategies, operational plans, and organisational objectives in consultation with the Director. Translate the company's strategic objectives into practical operational and financial plans. Monitor industry developments, market conditions, business opportunities, and operational risks. Identify opportunities for business growth, service development, and improved commercial performance. Review organisational performance and recommend changes to business strategies, structures, and operating procedures. Provide strategic and commercial advice to the Director on significant business decisions. Operational Management Oversee the company's overall construction and business operations. Coordinate the activities of operational, project, administrative, and supporting functions. Establish and monitor operational priorities, performance standards, and internal procedures. Ensure appropriate resources are allocated across projects and business activities. Monitor operational performance and resolve Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and business processes. Financial and Commercial Management Oversee the preparation and management of operational budgets, financial forecasts, and business plans. Monitor revenue, expenditure, cash flow, project margins, and overall financial performance. Review significant commercial arrangements, project commitments, procurement decisions, and business expenditure. Establish appropriate financial and commercial controls to protect company resources and profitability. Analyse financial and operational performance and implement corrective actions where required. Work with external accountants and professional advisers on financial, taxation, and other business matters as required. Construction and Project Oversight Maintain executive oversight of the company's construction and façade projects. Review overall project performance, including programme, cost, quality, resource requirements, and commercial outcomes. Work with project and operational managers to address significant project risks, delays, cost pressures, and resource constraints. Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and company standards. Oversee coordination between project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders. Ensure lessons from completed and ongoing projects are incorporated into future operational planning. Business Development and Client Relationships Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other business partners. Identify and evaluate new projects, commercial opportunities, and potential business partnerships. Participate in significant contract negotiations and commercial discussions. Support tendering and business development activities for major projects. Strengthen the company's market position and maintain long-term commercial relationships with key stakeholders. Procurement and Resource Management Oversee significant procurement and supplier arrangements. Review major purchasing decisions and negotiate key commercial terms where appropriate. Ensure the company has appropriate labour, subcontractor, equipment, and material resources to meet operational requirements. Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance and address significant commercial or operational issues. Develop strategies to improve procurement efficiency, cost control, and supply reliability. People and Organisational Leadership Provide leadership and direction to the company's management and operational teams. Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability across the organisation. Oversee workforce planning, recruitment requirements, staff development, and performance management. Support managers in resolving significant staffing and operational issues. Promote effective communication and cooperation between different areas of the business. Develop organisational capability to support the company's future growth. Risk, Compliance and Governance Oversee the company's business risk management and compliance framework. Ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and internal controls are established and maintained. Monitor significant contractual, commercial, operational, and regulatory risks. Ensure management systems support the company's health and safety, quality, employment, and other compliance obligations. Report significant business risks and performance matters to the Director. Coordinate with external legal, financial, and professional advisers where specialist advice is required. Skills and Experience Required The successful candidate will have: A relevant Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Business, Management, Commerce, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Significant management experience in a senior management, general management, operations management, or similar leadership role. Strong commercial and financial management capability. Demonstrated experience managing business operations, budgets, resources, and organisational performance. Strong leadership and people-management skills. Sound understanding of business planning, risk management, operational controls, and commercial decision-making. Strong negotiation, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyse complex business and operational information and make sound commercial decisions. Senior management experience within the construction, building, façade, subcontracting, engineering, or related project-based industry would be advantageous. #J-18808-Ljbffr
