Job Description
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Infainite is looking for an Agentic Software Engineer to design, build and deploy intelligent software systems that use AI agents to reason, act, integrate with tools and complete real-world tasks. This is a hands-on engineering role spanning software development, AI architecture, enterprise integration and production deployment. You’ll work on customer-facing solutions as well as reusable Infainite platform capabilities, taking ideas from ambiguity through to working production systems. We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, deeply curious and comfortable challenging conventional thinking. At Infainite, we have a healthy disdain for the status quo. We value people who question assumptions, push past “that’s how it’s always been done,” and are willing to explore ideas that may initially seem unconventional. We want thoughtful contrarians, people who can form strong views, test them against reality and change their minds when the evidence demands it. The right person will be comfortable working in ambiguous problem spaces, translating business needs into technical architectures, and taking solutions from concept through to production. The right person will be comfortable working in ambiguous problem spaces, translating business needs into technical architectures, and taking solutions from concept through to production. Key responsibilities Design and build autonomous and multi-agent software systems. Develop agent workflows involving planning, reasoning, memory, retrieval, tool use and human approval. Build production-grade backend services, APIs and integrations. Integrate AI agents with enterprise applications, databases, SaaS platforms and business processes. Design and implement retrieval-augmented generation and semantic search solutions. Develop evaluation frameworks for agent accuracy, reliability and task completion. Improve system performance across latency, cost, resilience and scalability. Implement security controls, permissions, safeguards and escalation mechanisms. Build testing, tracing, logging, monitoring and observability into agentic systems. Troubleshoot issues across models, prompts, code, integrations, data and infrastructure. Work with customers and internal stakeholders to turn complex problems into practical technical solutions. Contribute reusable components, patterns, standards and engineering practices across Infainite. Participate in technical design, architecture and code review. Stay current with developments in agentic AI, foundation models and modern software engineering. If you look at the current generation of software and think, “surely we can do better than this,” you’ll probably fit in well here.
