Job Description
Millennium Food and Beverage & Resort, Manuels Taupō is seeking a capable and customer-focused Food and Beverage Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the day-to‑day activities of staff engaged in retail sales and customer-service operations. This is a hands‑on supervisory position that combines team coordination, customer service, stock control, sales processing, product presentation and general oversight of the assigned retail area. Key Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the activities of retail sales and customer-service staff during assigned shifts. Allocate daily duties, work areas and responsibilities to team members and monitor completion and performance. Assist with staff rostering and ensure appropriate staff coverage for business requirements. Conduct shift briefings and communicate daily priorities, promotions, stock information and operational matters. Train, coach and support new and existing employees in customer service, sales procedures, product knowledge and workplace processes. Monitor staff performance and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and customer-service standards. Assist customers with enquiries about products, services, prices and availability, and support staff with complex customer transactions. Handle and resolve customer complaints and service issues professionally and elevate matters where required. Supervise point-of-sale transactions and ensure cash, EFTPOS and other approved payments are processed accurately. Assist with till balancing, reconciliation and end-of-shift procedures where required. Ensure products are correctly priced, labelled, presented and displayed in accordance with business standards. Monitor stock levels, arrange replenishment and assist with ordering stock within delegated authority. Receive and check stock deliveries for quantity, accuracy and condition, and report discrepancies or damaged goods. Undertake and/or supervise stocktakes and inventory checks and maintain appropriate stock-control records. Examine returned goods and ensure exchanges, refunds or other actions are processed in accordance with company procedures. Monitor the retail area to minimise theft, stock loss, damage and wastage and ensure appropriate security procedures are followed. Maintain a clean, organised, safe and professional retail environment for customers and staff. Ensure employees comply with workplace health and safety requirements and report hazards or incidents appropriately. Liaise with management and other departments regarding staffing, stock, customer requirements and operational matters. Provide management with feedback on sales activity, customer trends, stock requirements and opportunities to improve service and operational efficiency. Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications Applicants must have at least one of the following: At least one year of relevant retail or customer-service work experience; OR A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification, or an equivalent recognised overseas qualification. Applicants should also demonstrate: Experience in a retail or customer-facing environment. Ability to supervise, coordinate and provide direction to staff. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Experience handling customer enquiries, complaints and service issues. Experience using point-of-sale systems and processing payments. Understanding of stock control, stocktakes, inventory procedures and product presentation. Good organisational, time-management, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic. Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required. Personal Attributes Customer-focused, approachable and professional.
