About the role We're looking for a full-time Licensed Electrician to join our workshop team in Nelson. This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in every stage of building our automated woodworking machines. From wiring control cabinets and installing electrical components to programming, testing, fault-finding, and commissioning. Most of your time will be spent in our workshop, with occasional travel within New Zealand to install, service, or troubleshoot machines on site. If you enjoy practical work, solving problems, and seeing a machine come together from start to finish, you'll fit right in. Key responsibilities Build and wire electrical control cabinets. Install and wire electrical components on new machines. Program and troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs (primarily Omron). Create and update electrical schematics. Test, commission, and electrically certify completed machines. Diagnose and repair electrical faults. Assist with machine installations and occasional on-site service work. Help out with general workshop assembly when needed. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace. About you A current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence. EST registration (or equivalent). Experience wiring industrial machinery, control panels, or automated equipment. Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs, (Omron experience would be an advantage). Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Experience testing, commissioning, and electrically certifying machinery. The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Good computer skills (Outlook, Word and Excel). A full New Zealand driver's licence. Legally entitled to work in New Zealand. (We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.) Experience with Omron PLCs and automation products would be highly regarded, although training will be provided to the right candidate.
