At BestStart Paerata Rise, we are looking for an exceptional Centre Manager to lead our team and be an integral part of our centre community. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued and connected. We nurture children as individuals and guide them through their learning journey, from Kākano to Huāwai, through aroha, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga. Our Centre Manager will play an important role in building strong relationships with our tamariki, whānau and team while ensuring the centre operates to a high standard. This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference. About the Role We’re looking for someone who can strike the right balance between strong operational leadership and being actively involved in the life of the centre. You’ll be visible, approachable and connected, spending time in the rooms alongside the team while also confidently managing the day-to-day operations. You will: Lead, support and inspire a passionate team of kaiako. Build strong, trusting relationships with tamariki, whānau and the wider community. Be visible and hands-on, working alongside the team and connecting with children. Balance operational responsibilities with a strong focus on teaching, learning and wellbeing. Communicate confidently, professionally and effectively with our team and whānau. Build positive relationships with a professional and engaged parent community. Champion high-quality teaching and learning in line with our philosophy and Te Whāriki. Coach and develop your team, creating opportunities for growth and progression. Ensure strong standards across compliance, curriculum, planning and centre operations. Create a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued - and where there is always room for a little fun! About You We are looking for a relationship-driven leader who genuinely enjoys working with people and understands that great leadership starts with strong connections. You will be someone who: Is warm, approachable and confident in building relationships. Communicates clearly and professionally with a diverse range of people. Can confidently balance the operational and people-focused aspects of centre leadership. Enjoys being hands-on and connected to what is happening in the rooms. Has a strong understanding of high-quality ECE practice. Is organised, proactive and able to get things done. Can lead with confidence while creating a positive and supportive team environment. Enjoys celebrating success and bringing a sense of fun and energy to the workplace. You will also have: A Level 7 ECE qualification and current New Zealand Teaching Certification. Proven leadership experience, ideally as a Centre Manager or Head Teacher. Strong knowledge of ECE regulations and Te Whāriki. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and inclusive teaching practices.
