Experienced Welder – Steel & Alloy Fabrication Experienced Welder – Steel & Alloy Fabrication We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established Timaru business looking for an Apprentice or Trainee Glazier to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants to learn a skilled trade. You’ll be working alongside an experienced team on a variety of steel and alloy welding and fabrication projects. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, read drawings, solve problems, and consistently produce high-quality work. What You’ll Be Doing Your role will involve all aspects of steel and alloy welding and fabrication, including: MIG welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium TIG welding experience would be an advantage Fabricating and assembling steel and alloy components Reading and interpreting workshop and fabrication drawings Measuring, cutting, fitting, and preparing materials Working from plans and specifications to achieve accurate finished products Using workshop machinery, tools, and equipment safely and effectively Inspecting your own work to ensure a high standard of quality Working both independently and as part of a team Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work area Following all health and safety procedures What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a welder/fabricator Strong MIG welding skills Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings Good measuring, fitting, and fabrication skillsA high standard of workmanship and attention to detail Reliable, punctual, and hardworking Mechanically minded with good practical problem-solving skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Physically fit and comfortable working in a busy workshop environment A strong commitment to health and safety Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications are an advantage but not essential We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a workshop, takes pride in what they build, and can hit the ground running.
