Senior Geospatial Intelligence Analyst (Maritime)

New Zealand Defence Force – Auckland, North Island GEOINT New Zealand's (GNZ) role is to lead a unified All of Government GEOINT enterprise providing geospatial understanding to enable decision advantage. To assist us fulfil that role, we are seeking a motivated senior geospatial intelligence analyst to join our dedicated maritime team and help grow our capability. Using GIS applications such as ArcGIS, you will be producing a range of high quality maritime-focussed products for use by the NZDF, other government agencies and allies. You will also use your geospatial expertise to provide quick turnaround support to the RNZN, enabling the fleet to operate safely using current charts, publications and other specialist data. The role sits within the Maritime Foundation Production team and is based in Devonport Naval Base. The salary for this role ranges from $90,158 to $99,501, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience. Please note: As this role requires a high level of security clearance, you will need to be / have been a NZ, UK, Australian, Canadian or USA citizen for a minimum of 15 years to be eligible for this role. The successful candidate is required to undergo a psychological assessment as part of the pre-employment security vetting process. You will have advanced geospatial skills and a passion for geography, with a knowledge of applications such as ArcGIS, GlobalMapper or FME that will be used for the production of maps, charts and the analysis and manipulation of geospatial data, principally in the maritime domain. You will have excellent time-management and communication skills, and the ability to provide maritime briefings and liaise with a wide range of personnel from NZDF, other government agencies and allied partners. You will use and develop your leadership skills to mentor and coach other Maritime Geospatial Analysts, including undertaking quality control and assurance of GEOINT products. In the absence of the Maritime Team Leader you will stand in to manage and represent the team. Above all, you will be keen to further develop your knowledge of the maritime geospatial domain and how you can use your skills to deliver high-quality geospatial support to the RNZN and NZDF, contributing to the success of a dynamic team, while developing your career in a unique environment. A tertiary qualification in Geospatial Information Systems, hydrography or remote sensing, is highly desirable, and prior knowledge of the maritime environment (e.g. maritime jurisdiction, fisheries management and vessel movement) would be beneficial. At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years. To obtain this level of clearance, you must have a background history of fifteen (15) years that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
