Youth Support Worker / Kaimahi

Familial Trust – Saint Martins, South Island Familial Trust is seeking a warm, reliable and energetic Youth Support Worker/Kaimahi to support programmes for tamariki and rangatahi affected by a loved one’s alcohol or other drug use. 1- Gain practical experience supporting tamariki and rangatahi in a welcoming community organisation. 2- Permanent part-time work that may suit students studying Health and Wellbeing, youth work, education, sport or social services. 3- Earn $27 to $30 per hour based on relevant qualifications and experience. Working under the direction of our Youth Development Coordinator, you will: Help prepare, deliver and pack down youth sessions Assist with sporting, physical, creative and practical activities Encourage participation and build positive relationships with young people Help maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment Raise wellbeing or safety concerns promptly Assist with attendance records and brief session notes We are looking for someone with experience supporting young people through mentoring, education, sport, recreation or community activities. You should be dependable, approachable, comfortable working as part of a team and able to maintain clear professional boundaries. A Level 4 qualification in Health and Wellbeing, youth work, education, social services or a related field is desirable but not essential. Applicants studying towards a relevant qualification, or those with suitable practical experience, are encouraged to apply. The hourly rate is $27 to $30, depending on relevant qualifications and experience. This is a permanent part-time position of eight hours per week. During school terms, the hours are normally 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. During school holidays, the eight hours are normally worked on Thursday.
