About the role Mō te tūnga Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) is responsible for providing proactive, responsive and effective strategic in-service, life cycle fleet management and integrated logistic support (ILS) advice to support delivery of the NZDF's outputs. As the Equipment Manager Health, you will lead the strategic lifecycle management of NZDF's health and medical equipment fleets, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, operationally ready, and available when needed. You will provide leadership and expert advice across equipment planning, acquisition, maintenance, upgrades, and disposal activities. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategic thinking and operational delivery. Working closely with military personnel, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry partners, you will optimise fleet performance, manage risk, and ensure the cost-effective delivery of health equipment capabilities. You will drive continuous improvement while ensuring NZDF health equipment capabilities support both current and future operational requirements. Key responsibilities include: Leading the through-life management of health and medical equipment fleets. Providing strategic advice on equipment planning, procurement, and capability development. Managing maintenance, repair, overhaul, and obsolescence activities. Building and managing relationships with user, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders. This role is based in Trentham. Skills and Experience We're looking for a confident and tactful communicator, who can build credibility with stakeholders and senior leaders across a complex organisation. You will bring significant experience in equipment, asset, fleet, supply chain, or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) management, with the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels. Using strong analytical skills, you'll be comfortable interpreting data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering practical, business focused outcomes. Experience working with regulated health equipment, procurement, defence government, or similarly complex operational environments will be highly regarded. We are looking for someone with: Demonstrated expertise in the lifecycle management of equipment, assets, fleets, or logistics support systems. Strong stakeholder, contract, vendor, and relationship management skills. Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams. Knowledge of asset management, engineering management, or ERP systems such as SAP. A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in logistics, supply management, engineering, asset management, or related equipment. An understanding of military logistics is highly desirable. This role requires domestic travel and occasional travel overseas. You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.
