About the role We are looking for an experienced clinician with proven clinical competence within paediatric practice to join our Hospital Play Specialist Team at Starship Childrens Hospital in a permanent, full-time or part-time capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to gain leadership experience. As Advanced Clinician you will collaborate with the Team Lead to support individual play specialists and the development of the play service. This is a leadership role and will incorporate hands-on support to develop practice, goals related to professional registration as both teachers and health professionals and collaborate and contribute to strategic decision making to strengthen our programme and practice. There is scope to develop creative and innovative ways of working for and with our tamariki and their whānau, and our MDT, to support better outcomes and more positive hospital experiences. Our aim is to support excellence in practice, to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and their whānau. In this role you will also: Collaborate with the Team Lead to initiate and complete audits, benchmarking and quality projects. Support the recruitment process, facilitate and review the orientation and induction programme. Contribute to the development of the profession locally and nationally, provide clinical leadership and contribute to the review of clinical incidents/complaints. Support coordination of daily staffing, cover and input to create and manage staff rosters. Liaise with Ministry of Education (MoE) and contribute to the funding and reporting requirements and support accurate and timely submission of documentation. Coordinate & oversee ECE student placements. Support HPS to attain and maintain professional registration through HPSAANZ and maintain oversight of professional requirements. Ensure robust record systems are in place. Facilitate internal self-review processes. About the team/service/location The Starship Play Service operates throughout our inpatient wards, outpatient and daystay clinics as well as radiology and the Child Emergency Department. This is a large team of nearly forty Hospital Play Specialists with organised in-house training and frameworks for ongoing professional development. About you To be successful you will have: Professional registration and current annual practising certificate with HPSAANZ. A minimum of 6 years post graduate experience including a minimum of 4 years within paediatrics. Experience mentoring and guiding clinical / education practice. Relevant clinical post graduate certificate/diploma or intention to pursue study related to the role. Experience of supervising staff desired.
