Job Description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Technical Account Manager - Critical Power RobLawMax Recruitment - Christchurch, South Island RobLawMaxRecruitment is partnering with UPS Power Solutions to appoint a Technical Account Manager to their growing Christchurch operation. UPS Power Solutions is a New Zealand-owned specialist in uninterruptible power supplies and critical power solutions, providing sales, installation and service capability from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Established in 2003, the business represents leading global brands and has built its reputation around technical expertise, responsive service and long-term customer relationships. This is a newly created position and, while account management forms part of the role, the Christchurch opportunity has a strong new business focus. UPS Power Solutions already has an established service and engineering presence locally, but there is significant scope to grow its customer base and market share across the South Island. You’ll have the opportunity to develop business across power generation, industrial and manufacturing operations, data centres, major commercial organisations and other environments where continuity and quality of power are critical. The role UPS Power Solutions takes a technical approach to sales. Customers expect to deal with someone who can understand their requirements, discuss the technical issues and help identify the right solution-rather than simply passing every question back to an engineer. You’ll combine that technical credibility with the commercial drive to identify opportunities, open doors and build long-term customer relationships. Key responsibilities will include: Developing new business across Christchurch and the wider South Island Building trusted relationships with new and existing customers Identifying opportunities and developing a strong sales pipeline Understanding customer requirements and recommending appropriate technical solutions Preparing timely and accurate quotations and following opportunities through to completion Providing first-level technical advice, with support from the wider engineering team Working alongside service and engineering teams to identify further opportunities Networking within the market and representing UPS Power Solutions at relevant industry events Growing revenue, profitability and UPS Power Solutions’ presence across the South Island The role combines sales growth and pipeline development with becoming a trusted technical partner to customers. About you The key is a combination of electrical knowledge and commercial capability. You might be an electrician who has moved into technical sales, an electrical engineer with strong customer-facing skills, or already selling electrical, power, industrial or related technical solutions. Previous UPS experience would be an advantage, but isn't essential. More important is having the technical grounding to establish credibility with customers and the commercial drive to develop business. You’ll ideally bring: An electrical trade, engineering or related technical background Technical sales, account management or business development experience The confidence and motivation to generate new opportunities The ability to understand technical requirements and develop practical solutions Strong communication and relationship-building skills Commercial awareness and attention to detail A proactive, self-managing approach The formal PD calls for strong sales and customer-service capability with an electrical background, with electrical qualifications advantageous. Why join UPS Power Solutions? This isn't a role where you’ll simply inherit an established account portfolio and maintain it. It's a new position with genuine scope to build a market, backed by an established Christchurch service and engineering team and the capability of the wider national business. The remuneration structure is also designed to genuinely reward performance. Alongside a strong base package you'll receive uncapped commission, an additional performance bonus and vehicle/allowance, creating significant earning upside for someone who can grow the territory. There is flexibility around working from home once established, while South Island travel is expected to be relatively modest. For someone technically strong who enjoys developing relationships, finding opportunities and winning business, this offers the chance to take real ownership of a market and be rewarded for the results you deliver. #J-18808-Ljbffr
