Commercial Quantity Surveyor/Technical Design Co-ordinator Chaytor Fencing Co. are specialists in the design, fabrication and installation of fences, gates, decks and retaining walls. An enviable opportunity is available for an experienced QS/Technical Design person to join our team in a critical role ensuring our projects are set up for successful delivery from day one. About the role … You will take projects from initial concept and tender through to detailed design, costing and project handover, ensuring every project is technically achievable, commercially sound and accurately priced. With a strong focus on protecting project margins, you will use your technical design expertise, commercial judgement and attention to detail to manage each project. Responsibilities Preparing detailed commercial tenders, estimates and pricing proposals Managing the end-to-end quoting process including design changes and variations Producing accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD and SketchUp fabrication drawings Developing site layouts, elevations and detailed installation drawings Translating plans, engineering information and site measurements into practical fabrication solutions Managing estimating and project information through simPRO Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing Monitoring project expenditure against budgets and protecting targeted gross margins Assisting with progress claims, final accounts and retentions Reviewing completed projects against original estimates to continually improve pricing accuracy Working closely with Project Managers, Fabrication and Installation teams About you… We are looking for someone who combines commercial thinking with strong technical capability. Requirements Proven experience in commercial estimating, quantity surveying, technical design or a similar role Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to interpret and produce accurate fabrication drawings Excellent numerical and commercial skills, with a strong understanding of project margins Experience managing variations and project costs Strong organisational and workflow-management skills The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines Experience with simPRO would be highly advantageous Experience within fencing, gates, fabrication, construction or a related industry would be a huge bonus Why Join Chaytor?
