Auckland | Full Time | Great Package + Career Progression Helix Electrical is looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our Auckland team. We are an established and growing electrical contractor working across commercial construction, residential developments, maintenance and Electrical for Mechanical projects throughout Auckland and the Bay of Plenty. This is an important role within the business. We aren't looking for someone to simply measure drawings and put numbers into a spreadsheet. We want someone who understands electrical, knows what it takes to deliver a job on site, and can put together accurate, competitive and profitable tenders . We want someone who understands electrical, knows what it takes to deliver a job on site, and can put together accurate, competitive and profitable tenders . The Role You will take ownership of estimating and tendering across a wide range of electrical projects, including: Commercial construction and fit-outs Residential and multi-unit developments Refurbishment and remedial projects Electrical for Mechanical (E4M) Selected maintenance and negotiated works Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation Completing detailed electrical take-offs Preparing labour and material build-ups Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor pricing Identifying tender risks, exclusions and opportunities Preparing clear scopes, clarifications and tender submissions Value engineering and alternative solutions where appropriate Working with suppliers, clients, builders and consultants during the tender process Handing successful projects over to our Project Managers Reviewing completed projects and using back-costing to improve future estimates Helping develop and improve our estimating systems and processes What We're Looking For Ideally, you'll have: Strong electrical industry knowledge Previous electrical estimating experience Experience across commercial and/or residential projects The ability to confidently read drawings and specifications Good understanding of labour, materials and installation methods Strong attention to detail Good commercial awareness – you understand that winning the right work at the right margin is more important than simply winning every tender Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines Good communication skills and the confidence to deal with suppliers, builders, consultants and clients An electrical trade background would be highly regarded. We're also open to talking to an experienced electrician, supervisor or Project Manager who has estimating experience and is ready to move into a dedicated estimating role. Why Helix?
