Diving and Fishing Retail Sales Specialist Saltwater Connection – Whangarei, North Island Diving/Fishing Retail Store Assistant – Saltwater Connection Location: Whangarei Central Employment Type: Full Time (38 hours) Hours: Tuesday - Friday (8.30am - 5.00pm), Saturday (8.30am - 3.00pm) About the Role We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Diving/Fishing Retail Store Assistant to join our team at Saltwater Connection, a locally owned fishing tackle store dedicated to helping anglers of all levels get out on the water with the right gear and advice. In this role, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the store — from assisting customers and maintaining product displays to handling stock and spooling reels. Key Responsibilities Restock shelves and product displays to ensure the store is tidy, organised, and fully stocked. Operate the checkout – process sales, handle EFTPOS and cash transactions, and provide friendly customer service. Maintain store cleanliness, including tidying shelves, vacuuming floors, and keeping work areas presentable. Receive and check stock deliveries, verifying quantities and product quality before restocking. Spool fishing reels for customers with care and accuracy. Assist customers with product information, recommendations, and general fishing advice. Support the team with any other daily store operations as required. Must be willing to work 8.30am - 3.00pm every Saturday. Skills & Experience Previous retail or customer service experience (essential). Dive/snorkelling experience (highly regarded). Interest or knowledge in fishing, snorkelling and diving. Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment. Attention to detail and ability to handle stock accurately. Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused attitude. Willing to learn how to test dive cylinders. What We Offer A supportive and friendly work environment.
