HR Mechanical Services Ltd – Upper Hutt, North Island The Job We overhaul HVAC, brake, and pneumatic components for Wellington's Matangi trains. If you're a qualified HVAC tradesperson who takes pride in doing the job right, we want you on the team. You'll be pulling apart, repairing, and rebuilding HVAC components to a high standard — hands-on trade work, not a desk job. What You'll Be Doing Overhauling, repairing, and testing HVAC components Fault finding using diagnostic tools Checking parts to see what can be reused and what needs replacing Keeping accurate job records and service documentation Keeping your work area clean, safe, and organised What You'll Need Trade Certificate in HVAC / Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Refrigerant handling licence (Approved Filler) Solid brazing experience — fitting and replacing HVAC components Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and electrical/pneumatic circuits Good hands for assembling mechanical components Can follow written instructions and procedures without needing to be chased Nice to have Forklift licence Experience with continuous improvement Why HR Mechanical Steady, skilled work on Wellington's rail fleet — not going anywhere A proper trade, not always routine assembly-line stuff Work that actually matters — keeping trains running safely for the public A team that backs quality and safety over cutting corners Sound Like You?
