About the Role We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor (QS) with great energy & drive to join our project team in Hamilton. As the Quantity Surveyor, we will look to you to provide specialised functions of Procurement and Commercial Governance of the Head Contract, Subcontracts and supply agreements. The QS is an integral part of this group and reports to the Commercial / Project Manager. Responsibilities include: Take responsibility for the delivery of all of the Commercial activities required for the project in accordance with the company’s commercial procedures. Management of Procurement Process in line with corporate policy. Develop Project specific Procurement Strategy with input from Project Manager. Manage the procurement strategy (smaller packages within Work Package) for tender and delivery of Work Package. Preparation of subcontract and supplier agreements including preparation of Request for Quotation, review of tender bid evaluations including rates, quantum and tags/exclusions – in accordance with company commercial requirements, terms and conditions. What you'll need Quantity Surveying Tertiary qualifications preferred but not essential. At least 4 years of experience in the construction or building industry as a Quantity Surveyor or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with sound costing analytical skills or equivalent site based experience. A track record in ethical negotiation with supply chain. Ability to demonstrate a successful track record in delivering procurement cost savings. Proficient in planning, organising and working to time lines. Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements. Ability to allocate and manage work through other people. Demonstrates flexibility and resilience in dealing with complex issues, looks for approach change and deploys sound problem solving methodology. Display the ability to analyse contractual issues and provide and/or recommend solutions through appropriate problem solving techniques. Strong and clear communication skills – oral and written with ability to work with and through all organisational levels. Don’t tick all the boxes but you’re still excited about this opportunity? Conditions of work Annual Salary: from NZD 100,000 to NZD 130,000 - according to experience Location of work: Hamilton Working hours: Your standard hours of work will be 40 hours per week. This will generally be Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm, unless otherwise agreed with your Manager. You may be required, from time to time, to perform such overtime and work up to an additional 10 hours per week.
